Ingredients

  • Two tablespoons of olive oil
  • One cup of vermicelli noodles
  • Two cups of rice – you can also use basmati rice
  • One teaspoon of table salt
  • Water for covering the rice

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice to remove the starch
  2. Soak the rice in cold water for 10-15 minutes
  3. Heat the olive oil or vegetable oil on medium heat in the pot
  4. Add the vermicelli pasta to the pot when the oil is hot
  5. Stir the pasta using a wooden spoon to make it golden brown
  6. Add the drained rice to the pot and mix it with the toasted vermicelli
  7. Add some water to the pot and cover the rice by one centimeter
  8. Now, bring the water to a boil and lower the heat
  9. Cover the lid and set the timer to 15 minutes
  10. Remove the pot after 15 minutes without removing the lid
  11. Set aside the pot for 10-15 minutes
  12. Next, remove the rid and use a fork to fluff the rice
