- Half cup of Egyptian rice
- 1-2 cups of water
- Two cups of milk
- We recommend using full-fat milk
- Two tablespoons of cornstarch
- ΒΌ cup or 50g of white sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon of mastic gum
- Use crushed mastic gum
- One tablespoon of rosewater
- One tablespoon of orange blossom water
Instructions
- Soak the Egyptian rice for 10-15 minutes
- Rinse the rice properly
- Add 1-2 cups of water and rice to a medium-sized saucepan
- Bring the pan to a boil and simmer for 15 minutes
- Make sure the rice is tender
- Add milk and cornstarch to a bowl and use a fork to prepare a slurry
- Bring the pan to a slow boil and use a wooden spoon for constant stirring
- Add the remaining cornstarch and milk to the mixture
- Add sugar and mastic gum to the mixture
- Continue stirring until the mixture has a thick soupy texture
- Remove the pan from heat and add some orange blossom and rose water
- Stir to mix the rose and orange blossom water
- Let the mixture cool for 5-10 minutes before placing it into serving bowls
